First Taste of Snow

First Taste of Snow

2020 Day 10 "12 Days of Cocktails" Cocktail Winner
Recipe by Emma

  • 1.5 oz Conniption American Dry Gin
  • ½ oz Dry Vermouth (I'm in love with Atxa Dry which is very herbal and savory)
  • 1 oz Coconut Water
  • ½ oz Ginger-Thyme Syrup*
  • ½ tsp Fresh Lemon Juice

Combine all ingredients in a shaker and shake with ice; pour through a fine-mesh strainer into a chilled glass and garnish with a sprig of thyme.

You get a crisp cold shock from the gin and spicy ginger while earthy notes from the thyme savory vermouth and sweet coconut water bring that unique fresh from the ground snowball taste.

*For ginger-thyme syrup: stir one cup sugar and 1 cup water into a small saucepan and bring to a simmer stirring until all sugar is dissolved. Add about a 2-inch chunk of ginger sliced into thin strips and a good handful of thyme sprigs. Steep for 30 min then strain and store in the fridge.
