Grapefruit Cardamom Gin Fizz
Grapefruit Cardamom Gin Fizz
2017 "12 Days of Cocktails" Cocktail Winner
Recipe by ndepesa
A flavorful spin on the traditional Ramos Gin Fizz that very nicely highlights the botanical profile of Conniption American Dry Gin!
- 1.5 oz Conniption American Dry Gin
- 1/2 oz cardamom simple syrup
- 1/2 oz grapefruit juice
- 1/2 oz lemon juice
- 1/2 oz heavy cream
- 1 egg white
- 5 dashes orange bitters
- 1 oz club soda
Add all ingredients but the club soda to a cocktail shaker. Shake several minutes, at least 5 minutes to ensure a nice foam. Add ice to the shaker and shake until well-chilled. Pour into a collins or collins-like glass. Add the club soda to the shaker. Gently swirl to get any remaining foam that has clung to the sides and then add to the glass.
Cardamom simple syrup: Bring to boil 30 green cardamom pods, 1 cup water, 1 cup granulated sugar. Once boiling, turn down the heat to medium. Stir until all sugar is dissolved. Turn off heat and cool on the stove. Once cool, strain, and store in the refrigerator in an air-tight container for up to 7-10 days.
