A Pear-Shaped Conniption

Our Pear-Shaped Conniption cocktail may require little extra effort than some cocktails but it's 100% worth it! The Spiced Pear Syrup sets this cocktail apart and it's festive flavors make it an absolute must-have during the holiday season.
¾ oz. Sweet Vermouth
½ oz. Spiced Pear Syrup (recipe below)
½ oz. cold, sparkling dry Pear or Apple cider

1 c. pear purée
1/4 c. raw sugar
1/2 tbsp. chopped fresh ginger
1 cinnamon stick
1 pinch grated nutmeg
Spiced Pear Syrup
First make the Spiced Pear Syrup: Combine ingredients in a 2-qt. saucepan over medium heat until sugar has dissolved, about 2 minutes. Reduce heat to low and cook for 10–15 minutes, until the syrup has thickened. Strain, discarding ginger and cinnamon, and store in the refrigerator until ready to use. Makes about ½ cup; leftover syrup will keep, refrigerated, for about 2 weeks.
To make the cocktail: Mix all ingredients except cider in shaker with crushed ice and shake vigorously.
Pour into glass and top with cold sparkling cider. Garnish with pear slice.
